Brody was born in Carlsbad, California, on December 15, 1979. His father, Mark Brody, was a lawyer, and his mother, Valerie Siegal, was a graphic artist. Brody's parents divorced when he was young, and he lived with his mother in San Diego.

Brody's interest in acting began at an early age. He appeared in several school plays and local theater productions. After graduating from high school, Brody moved to Los Angeles to pursue his acting career.

Brody's first major acting role came in 1999, when he was cast as Barry Williams in the television movie "Growing Up Brady." He went on to appear in a number of other television shows, including "Gilmore Girls" and "Smallville."

The O.C.

Brody's breakthrough role came in 2003, when he was cast as Seth Cohen on "The O.C." The show, which followed the lives of a group of affluent teenagers in Newport Beach, California, became an instant hit with audiences around the world.
