A Pioneer of Modern Theater

Meyerhold began his career as an actor in the Moscow Art Theater, where he worked closely with Konstantin Stanislavski and other leading figures of the Russian avant-garde. However, he soon grew dissatisfied with the Stanislavsky system's emphasis on psychological realism. A Controversial Figure
